Overview

Fluffal is the deck of everyone's favorite sweet-toothed war criminal from Arc-V, Sora Perse. The archetype is split between 3 sub-archetypes: stuffed animals called Fluffals, possessed blades called Edge Imps, and stuffed animals with blades called Frightfurs. Despite being a Fusion deck in nature, Fluffal excels in Link and Xyz plays, with the ability to draw and search deep into your deck during a single turn. Alternatively, Fluffal can also be played as a versatile OTK strategy, utilizing the powerful Fusion monsters the archetype has access to.

In Master Duel, Fluffal has its own standalone Secret Pack, Fiendish Playthings, however it is NOT recommended to pull from this pack. Of the pack's 4 URs, only Loading... and Frightfur Kraken see play at 1 copy each, and of the pack's 8 different SRs you only need 7 total SRs. The rest of the archetype is N/R, meaning the majority of the cost will come from generic staples and boss monsters, so spend your resources getting those instead.

Fluffal as a deck is very non-linear, with random chance being able to catapult your build to more insane levels. As such, this guide does NOT have consistent combo lines in it, with the exception of a couple 3-card combos. Instead, at the end of the guide we will discuss general tips to remember while piloting the deck, as well as some plays you can make in certain boardstates. Before that, we need to talk about the most powerful card in the deck.

Spin to Win

To understand Fluffal as a deck, you must first understand the most important card in the archetype. Activating this card several times a turn can create powerful boardstates through sheer advantage.

The best part? It’s N rarity.

Toy Vendor

We’ll start with the most important part of the card, the second effect.

“If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can add 1 ‘Edge Imp Sabres’ or 1 ‘Fluffal’ monster from your Deck to your hand.”

This is not a once per turn. If you send Toy Vendor to the GY 4 times, you can search the deck 4 times. It activates regardless of how it was sent to the GY, or where it was sent from. Send it from the deck, discard it, destroy it, detach it while it’s material on Loading..., whatever you can dream of will let you search a Fluffal (or Edge Imp Sabres).

Use this effect as much as possible to add more material to hand for summoning later on during your turn. Fluffal combos begin by determining how to get access to Toy Vendor, either on-field or in the GY, and this effect in GY is the main reason why. Although, that isn't to say that the effect on-field is useless.

“Once per turn: You can discard 1 card; draw 1 card and show it, then if it is a ‘Fluffal’ monster, you can Special Summon 1 monster from your hand. Otherwise, discard the card you drew.”

This is a soft once per turn. You can activate all 3 copies of Vendor back to back, so long as each copy on the field only uses this once. But this effect has more depth than just gambling to extend further.

Toy Vendor can be used as a very searchable discard outlet, enabling some of the deck's GY effects such as Loading..., Fluffal Wings, and even Toy Vendor itself.

Using cards like Edge Imp Sabres allow you to stack the top of the deck with a Fluffal monster. You can then activate the Toy Vendor to draw the Fluffal, and get the next important part of this effect: You can Special Summon ANY monster from hand. If you plan on playing big monsters as a part of an engine, you can cheat them out with Toy Vendor.

One of the first decks I built as an DM-boomer playing MD for the first time. Still love running it in events every now and then.

I know is not what the guide recommends but I really like using Frightfur Wolf. Attacking 4 or more times with the same monster for game is hilarious.

Very cool guide, it's been a long time since I've played fluffal. There's a mistake in the 7th line in repair, it's supposed to say fightfur fusion I think.
