I hope more tournament reports show that even though Tenpai is a good deck, it's still very one-dimensional and pretty simple to counter with the right plays. It's not the oppressive tier 0 auto win deck people are claiming it do be. Easy decks that steal games like Tenpai are allowed to exist and do more good than harm in the long run.
Do you understand that tournaments are bo3 with side decks? The discussion about tenpai is how they function in a bo1 ladder and make games not just linear but beyond problematic for deckbuilding
How so? People are still building decks relatively the same way since Tenpai, people are just playing differently which can be good. I've played with and against Tenpai and I see no functional difference between them and other meta decks, if anything I see more problems with Yubel and Fire Kings still today than Tenpai. I would argue Tenpai is STRONGER in a BO3 because side-decking in Tenpai is one of the things that makes them so scary, being able to switch between hand traps, board breakers, or just completely change the deck strategy all together as we see here with Voiceless. If their linear OTK plan can't be executed in one game, then they lose. Sangen Summoning is the only card I have problem with but that's not going to be a factor in every game and there countless of ways to remove it or play around it.
i dont think you are aware of how sidecking against tenpai tends to resolve, it generally goes: "ok, if im going first, im just going to side the 6-9 cards that say 'tenpai instantly loses' and there's nothing they can do about it", while for tenpai is "i will just hope game 3 goes better", tenpai is a deck that pratically has a garanteed lost on a bo3, its not at all "stronger" in a bo3, cuz you cant just main deck 3 roar, 3 dbarrier. we are also in a infant stage of the format too, stun 2(ritual beasts) is toping for gods sake, soon you will se the paterns that you see across ocg and tcg side decks form to counter tenpai and its eventual falloff from bo3s top cuts and its rise on bo1s
Ok I get your point I can argue back with cards like crossout and the zealantis otk through D barrier but I'm willing to concede that part of the argument. My initial point still stands that Tenpai is not too oppressive even through its strengths of ending games fast and having a Misc-effect on a field spell still stands. I know its a good deck, I know its going to be meta, I just think people are over exaggerating its dominance. Its gonna be Tier 1 but I don't see it be anything more annoying than Branded or Yubel or Fire King, Centur-Ion etc. It's an easy deck, strong deck, but has a lot of flaws that people just are quick to dismiss.
in bo1, you don't need unsearchable FG but you definitely need either protos or Collosus in your deck.
