New Season Same Dec...well I guess that's not true anymore.

Switched over From Chimera Horus to Chimera Illusion while trying to get to Master 1, and came across quite a few more Chimera Decks which was intresting to see.(came across someone who super polied me twice which was a experience).

I opted to not play Super Poly with Chimera later into the season, as the opportunties for it didn't really appear too much imo, and Ghost Ogre had a few more better Applications.

Against Tenpai, while super poly is good in some circumstances, it isn't good if they have the field spell up and go into the synchro 10 in M1, and it isn't good if they destroy my backrow. So Ghost Ogre helps a bit more, as it can destroy the field spell , dosen't require set-ing ,and is good against a few current decks.

For the XYZs, I didn't really make them, I net decked someone who ran beatrice, but they also ran transaction roleback and the maykashia trap+barrier statue, but that isn't really my style, so I thought I could just use it for tao, but probably will only run the Typhon going forward. So that's -60 URS :). Didn't really make Goddess Either, but I would say the other Extra Decks URS are nessecary.

It's weird, I feel I have alota room in the extra deck so might run some more Chimera names.\nChaos Angel is probably the best thing about Chimera Illusion, I love making it.

Last thing, In previous profiles , I said Tao was a bad brick, however, in Chimera Illusion, this is less of the case due to playing Apprentice. Apprentice makes Tao a much better brick in the deck, due to being able to revive her and search.

Chimera feels solid as always.

Chimera Branded, Branded Chimera, there isn't a section to put this in lol. This deck doesn't seem like it works, but it does lol. I went on several win streaks even while flipping 5 tails in a row. This deck is all about the gas to push through every hand trap thrown at you(even max c to play on your opponents turn). If they stop one engine, you go the other. Super fun deck if you don't want to play normal Chimera or normal Branded.

Not having Diabellze along with Apprentice was kind of strange as it changed my play patterns and how I would try to end. I frequently found myself going for Lars over Beatirce as Diabellze is not currently released. Otherwise the deck plays like it does in the TCG. I'm not a fan of garura but it can turn your unplayable hands into magnum potentially as well as letting you draw a card. It also came up as a way to make a dark for Chaos Angel.

I bumped it up to 44 towards the end of my push for Master. The math of the deck feels off having to play the whole maxx C minigame package when I would prefer to play more handtraps but the deck loses to enough common interruptions that the whole package is necessary.

I look forward to the release of Diabellze and Fiendsmith cards to really bump the deck up.

Initially I was climbing with an 45 deck variant till I had a mirror match with another Chimera deck that performed an Chimera/Yubel Beatrice combo on me. I was instantly sold and during solo play testing I noticed I could take the combo a little further, which eventually led me to using an 60 card variant. Results were not bad at all and made it pretty far up a few times, but kept deranking due to consistency issues, which was expected.
Few comments for certain cards in the deck.
Tour Guide From the Underworld / Sangan / Fiendish Rhino Warrior : a small engine I use time to time if I don't open any of my Chimera cards.
Nightmare Apprentice Its amazing how one card can change a whole deck. This card raised the power level of Chimera to an ladder threat.
Beatrice Lady Of The Eternal: I fully understand now why people are calling for this card to be banned. Sending any card from the deck to the graveyard on demand is insane.
Nightmare Magician/ Talons of Shurilane / Vouiburial the Dragon Undertaker: I played the different illusion cards and got "relatively" best results from these three cards. Quick fun facts: Talons effect can trigger Nightmare Throne's effect if the selected monster is an Yubel monster, Nightmare Magician effects occur in the damage step similar to Tenpai, and Undertaker effect must lower the ATK of the monster to work, so it doesn't work on 0 attack monsters.
Mirage Mirror Force: Funny little tech card that I didn't used much during my climb. Yet, I know I caught people off guard when played though. It has a graveyard effect that can save you from being OTK at the right moment too.
Rainbow Bridge of Salvation / Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger: This is used to bridge into your Yubel cards. Either send Rainbow bridge to the graveyard via Foolish Burial Goods or Beatrice Lady Of The Eternal. WARNING: You need an Crystal beast in the deck for Rainbow bridge to work, so if you have Topaz tiger in your hand before using Rainbow Bridge then it becomes a dead card. I learned this the hard way.
Spirit Of Yubel / Yubel - Terror Incarnate: In theory you can just run one Spirit Of Yubel, but I like the option of having another one in your hand as backup. Meanwhile Yubel - Terror Incarnate has to be used to pull off putting an Nightmare Pain on your initial end board.

I play tested different tech cards along the way till I settled on list that is shown. So sometimes you will see cards not on the list in the duels, but the core of the deck remains the same. Duels with some flavor of the Beatrice Bridge Combo was marked too.

As far as tech is concerned I would probably cut Statue before I would cut Vouiburial. Getting Statue out can be a free win but it can be difficult to protect and get out consistently, generally would rather use Chimera King effect to recur rather than all in gamble on Statue.

Meanwhile Vouiburial isn't dead in the hand and can be searched to add disruption and bait enemy disruption, the effect is niche but the body alone is strong and can stop lethal often.

From the ED you could probably cut Cross Sheep and replace with Beatrice or a 2nd Chimera King. It can be a neat tech but very niche.

Some people don't like Dragostapelia but it's arguably the strongest Super Poly target you can semi-consistently get out against a variety of decks, Tear, Branded, Melodious, etc.

Typhon surprisingly came in clutch in many games.

Hello!

This was my first time reaching master 5, and it honestly went quite well. Tenpai was not terrible as you have many ways of ensuring they do not otk you so you can follow up next turn with something like Illusion Beast.

Some Insight on my decklist:

I tried running the patchwork engine however I replaced it with a tiny Yubel package. Patchwork is not adding much to the ceiling to the current state of chimera in MD (at least until fiendsmith comes out). On the other hand Yubel is great at not only baiting handtraps but giving you access to a free moneter negate and baiting out infinite impermanence. Plus you get to run the broken Yubel Super Poly target so that is another bonus.
Super Poly is a must as it has won me too many games against tenpai, you can run 3 but I went down to two to add a 3rd nibiru. You can replace nibiru for a 3rd super poly or another handtrap.
Beatrice isn't mandatory, but It can get you out of a pinch in some niche situations. Beatrice only becomes mandatory once we get access to Fiendsmith.
Chimera the Illusion beast is an extremly broken card, with the addition of Nightmare Apprentice you can easily guarantee he can gain an additional 3 attacks which is game usually.
Apprentice also allows a consistant way to summon Chaos Angel! Sometimes Chaos Angel is your only out to a card so having access to it is great.

The only thing I would probably change is exchanging the 2nd copy of Guardian Chimera for another super poly target like Mudragon. I did not really summon the 2nd one too much, and when I did it wasn't very impactful.
