Notes & Combos

I want to preface this by saying:

This was the worst Master Duel format I've ever had to endure to Master Rank.

With That said -

Icejade Tearlaments! This deck is one that wasn't able to get any testing or play in the TCG/OCG, due to the fact that the glue that bridges the 2 archetypes together - Kitkallos - is banned in those formats. However, Master Duel having Kitkallos free means that the deck can actually work as intended.

We (of the Icejade Channel) have been playing variations of this deck since tearlaments was released, but this is the first time I decided to actually use it to climb ladder.

Making use of Purulia and the Icejade monsters, the consistency of finding fusion targets for Kitkallos allows for smaller, more concise deckbuilding.

Icejades allow you to play through disruption, and give you access to Synchro 10 boss monsters with ease. Level 3 Icejade Aegirine herself can potentially start and continue plays on the opponents turn by summoning Reinoheart, TearKash or even Rulkallos from hand/gy when targeted by cards or attacks. Cards like Icejade Manifestation and Tremora also benefit from being milled for disruption/combos and follow up.

The extra has standard choices for Icejade and Tearlaments, with some techs thrown in:

  • Egyptian God Slime lets you recycle your level 10 Water bosses back into the gy, or lets you reduce all your opponent's monsters attack with the Icejade field spell, while maintaining attack points. Came up a decent amount of times, very good.
  • Psychi End Punisher was extremely useful when dealing with certain strategies that put up large bodies or hard to break boards. Milling Destrudo and using him + a level 7 to go into PEP almost guarantees you break through and kill if your Opponent decides to leave a low attack monster on the field.
  • Deep Sea Prima Donna is mostly for utility - it recycles banished cards (even face-down, in case of Kashtira) and makes your synchro 10 untargettable by monsters. its primary effect of summoning a monster from deck didn't come up much, but was vital when it did. Not necessary, but recommended.

(Trivia: both archetypes have a continous trap that puts a monster in gy by card effect to negate, a level 10 Water Aqua boss monster with 3000 ATK and a lower level, but strong extender (Kitkallos & Ran)

My guess is the usual. Marincess Coral Anemone effect to water lock yourself then link up to Zealantis to banish your opponents monsters.

Is that worth tho? Your monsters and your enemies monster come back. I thought Zealantis is only worth to trigger your monsters soft OTP effects.

Its nice to have. If you have water locked yourself and your opponent's monsters are not waters then they will not come back from the banishment since you aren't able to special summon anything but water. I don't think this deck has any soft OTPs you are trying to reset so I think the board wipe is the only use case.

Oh wait we can use OUR lock against the enemy with Zealantis?! I had no clue! Thanks man, that’s huge news for me 😂

I've always wanted to try build an icejade deck. I did just build this deck and think it will be a lot of fun. Is there a typical endboard you try go for or does it change around a lot?
